This will be the demonstration on the eleventh Sunday since the elections, with a victory of 80.1 percent. Mr. Lukashenko has won. According to the international community, the real winner of the elections is the leader of the opposition Sviatlana Cichanouskaya.

The demonstrations scheduled for Sunday coincide with the final date of Lukashenko’s ultimatum to Cichanouskaya. The presumed leader was urged to resign, thus paving the way for new elections.

However, that outcome is unlikely. Although Lukashenko has already authorized the release of several prisoners, he is not yet expected to land.

At the initiative of S. Cichanouskaja, who left for Lithuania, a general strike is organized in Belarus on Monday.

Regardless, analysts say Cichanouskaya’s influence is limited because he operates from abroad.
