According to A. Tapinas, it is necessary to understand very clearly that both the campaign organized by him and another initiative, when the signatures were collected to remove TV Raskevičius from the position of chairman of the committee, do not have legal force. In general, A. Tapin pointed out, they don’t even talk about signatures, but about the list of names and surnames.
“We all call them firms, but it’s just a list of names. And the request itself was formulated with irony, “said A. Tapinas after the meeting with the Spokesperson for Seimas.
“We demand that the Seimas revoke other signatures without legal force with unsigned legal signatures,” the journalist quipped.
According to A. Tapinas, 887,255 signatures were registered during the campaign “One million signatures: Wake up and get up” initiated by him. However, an examination of the records revealed that a total of 424,666 signatures had been collected.
He pointed out that the signatures collected due to the removal of TV Raskevičius from his position on the committee cannot be said to show the real will of the Lithuanian citizens.
“It should probably not be disguised that it is the will of the nation to have 300 thousand. signatures when there are no signatures or, apparently, 300 thousand. There is not. Because if they were inspected the way we are inspecting ours, probably only a tenth would be left, “A. Tapin told reporters.
“I can say that those with good programmers and little conscience can collect 6 million signatures tomorrow and bring 15 boxes to the Seimas. However, it will not have legal force either. It is an expression of opinion and none of the parties should be told that it is the will of the nation or that it is a very important document that must be fulfilled, ”said A. Tapinas.
According to him, for public opinion to be really heard on one issue or another, it is necessary to follow the instructions that are regulated by law.
“There is a law of requests, then you have to confirm the data through the Electronic Government Portal. Then we would realistically see how many people want, for example, the president of the Raskevičius committee to be removed, or want something else ”, summarized A. Tapinas.
In February, those who came forward as public figures announced that they had raised 365,000. After presenting their signatures to the speaker of parliament, the chairman of the Seimas Human Rights Committee, TV Raskevičius, who did not hide his sexual orientation, demanded that he resign from his current position.
His initiative was supported by the shadow peasant government led by Ramūnas Karbauskis. As R. Karbauskis stated to Eltai, the “peasants” are determined to continue the initiative to remove TV Raskevičius from the committee chairs by submitting a resolution to the Seimas. According to the politician, the group of people who demand the resignation of the president of the commission is well founded, because TV Raskevičius discredits the constitutionally protected family institute made up of a man and a woman, which only represents an interest group, etc.
However, both TV Raskevčius and the leaders of the ruling majority said they saw nothing similar in the allegations. According to them, TV Raskevičius acted seriously and professionally while chairing the committee. Furthermore, they emphasized that only a few LGBT-related issues have been discussed in the activities of the Seimas Human Rights Committee in recent months.
