Swedish prince Carl Philip and his wife Sofia are expecting a third child

Prince Carl Philip, son of King Charles XVI Gustav of Sweden, who is fifth in line to the royal throne, and his wife are “happy, excited and expecting their third child.”

The Royal Palace has indicated that Princess Sofia is well and that the baby should be born in March or April.

Prince Carl Philip, 37, and Sofia Hellqvist, 36, married in June 2015.

According to the couple, the “new little member of our family” will be the sister or brother of their two children, Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel.

The King of Sweden is officially the head of state, but his powers are limited to representational duties.
