A survey commissioned by the ELTA news agency in October, the market research and public opinion company Baltijos tyrimai, showed that four out of ten (41%) adults in the country were satisfied with the functioning of democracy in the country, and almost half (48%) were satisfied. dissatisfied with the quality of democracy in Lithuania. One-tenth (11%) of the respondents did not have an opinion or did not answer this question.
During the last month, those dissatisfied with the functioning of democracy in Lithuania increased by 7 percentage points, however, compared to the responses of those surveyed a year ago (October 2019), the opinion of the population on this issue does not has changed.
Young people under 30 years of age are more satisfied with the functioning of democracy in Lithuania (56% of them are satisfied with democracy in the country), metropolitan residents, respondents with higher education and the highest family income per month (more than 1200 euros), managers, specialists and officials. and young people in learning, right-wing respondents.
Rural residents, respondents with secondary or lower education and the lowest monthly household income (up to 700 euros), the unemployed and housewives, and Russians and Poles are most dissatisfied with the functioning of democracy in the country.
The survey was conducted in 2020. October 13-23. During the research, 1000 Lithuanian residents (aged 18 years and over) were interviewed by personal interviews, and the survey was conducted at 118 sampling points. The composition of the respondents corresponds to the composition of the Lithuanian population aged 18 and over by sex, age, nationality and type of settlement. The opinion of the respondents reflects the opinion of the Lithuanian population aged 18 and over. The error of the research results is up to 3.1 percent.
