Strong blow to drug addiction in the capital: drug laboratories liquidated, distribution chain dismantled

In a long-term and large-scale investigation, after intensive and careful work by officials, it was found that another channel of narcotic and psychotropic substances, cannabis and amphetamines, entering the illegal market operates in Vilnius.

The study found that there is a group of people who have developed a complete chain, a series of actions ranging from drug production to distribution. When police officers identified individuals who may have been directly involved in illicit drug trafficking, steps were taken to document their actions.

When officers determined where the drugs were stored, a large quantity of amphetamine was seized, approximately 3.5 kg of powder containing the psychotropic substance. The value of this psychotropic substance on the illegal market would be up to € 35,000.

It was decided to carry out the arrest operation only after sufficient data had been collected on the serious and very serious crimes committed and the persons who committed them.

During a police operation in December, six people were arrested in Vilnius and Palanga on suspicion of illicit drug possession.

During the investigation, more than ten searches were carried out on the residences and cars of the detainees. During the search, more than 500 grams of the drug were found in one of the cars: cannabis and its parts, tablets containing psychotropic substances, as well as a cannabis cultivation laboratory in the basement of a supposed rental house, where it was they grew dozens of cannabis plants.

In addition, part of the dry dry drug already produced, cannabis and its parts, was eliminated. In addition, the study identified the person and place where a large amount of the psychotropic substance amphetamine may have been produced.

After the suspects were handed over to the detainees, the Vilnius District Court took him into custody – arrests and intensive supervision. The arrest is also directed at a person who is hiding from the officers.

The Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania provides prison sentences of 10 to 15 years for specific offenses.

The pre-trial investigation is controlled and coordinated by the Prosecutor of the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
