Statistical forecasts: the poverty risk rate may change this year

The indicators calculated on the basis of income in 2019 allow us to predict that the risk of poverty rate may increase by 1.1 points to 21.7% this year, while the absolute poverty rate would decrease by 1.6 points to 6.1%.

Statistics Lithuania notes that this year’s official poverty indicators, to be published next year, will be based on 2019 earnings, so the various unique state benefits for children, retirees and disabled, and job applicants, have yet to will be reflected in them.

Poverty forecasts were compiled for statistics for the first time. Preliminary figures will be reviewed after one year through a routine income and living conditions survey.

The latest official statistics for 2019 show that the risk of poverty rate, with a monthly income of € 379, was 20.6%. (a decrease of 2.3 points during the year), and the absolute poverty rate, when income reached 251 euros, was 7.7 percent. (3.4 points). These indicators are calculated based on 2018 revenue.
