It is important to keep up with the day
In the fall, when the number of people infected with coronavirus began to grow rapidly, Egle and her husband decided that it was too risky to transport the children to kindergarten on a daily basis. The woman is currently on paternity leave, the family is spending time at home, and relatives have promised help to raise the children.
“The hardest part is finding a quiet corner for Dad where he can work and trying not to disturb him. With four pups, we have realized that permanence gives security to children, so we follow the rhythm of the day. We will survive without a kindergarten for as long as it takes, and more importantly, if it becomes difficult, don’t forget to ask for help, ”says E.ŠŠeikienė.

The day for four children is planned in detail. After getting up around 7 in the morning, everyone goes to breakfast, then plays, does homework received from kindergarten, goes outside.
“When I’m outdoors, the kids help me do the necessary work, play by play, and sometimes I just let them down. When we get back from the field, we rush to eat and go to bed, only now it’s harder for them to sleep. Perhaps we feel tension on our part even though we try not to show that we are concerned about the coronavirus.
After sleeping, we usually go outside again because it is easier to control children there. If we are locked in a room, anger begins, not sharing with toys ”, says Eglė about the daily routine.
The more children, the easier it is to grow
Eglė’s eldest son is 5 years old, the youngest is only a few months old. Some mothers find it difficult to deal with one or two children, but E. Šeikienė looks at those speeches with a smile and says that the more children there are, the easier it is to raise them.
“We are raising children, everyone would say that it is very difficult. With a child it is the most difficult because it is the first, everything is new for you. An experience arises with the second child. And while everyone laughs, the third and fourth grow up alone. I read many books on parenting to know how to do it. Peace comes from knowing, ”says the mother.
Desperate situations are common
With raising four children and taking care of them constantly, it seems that there should be no time for housework. However, Eglė also emphasizes the importance of the rhythm of the day here and is happy that the children are happy to help her drive.
“Constantly remind children to put things in their proper place. It helps me a lot that we have a washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, robot-pump. After eating, quickly put the dishes in the dishwasher, wipe the table, wipe. Before going out, put the chairs on the tables, run the robot. Put your clothes on for a minute laundry, then rejoice.
If the children see you washing the floor, run away, grab your broom and try to help. When I clean the windows, I also take cloths, I clean together. Your help is extra work for me, but I am very happy that you love it. I try not to reject the wish, ”says E.Šeikienė.

However, even a planned time for children does not avoid the anger of others or the chaos that prevails in the home. However, in Egle’s opinion, this is normal because there are four children who, like everyone else, sometimes do not listen.
“It happens that you say, you say something five times, you wake up to repeat, you raise the tone, then the vicious circle begins: if you raise your voice, the children do the same, there is noise. Sometimes I feel desperate. There are days when both one, the second and the third, all in a row turn around, needs to be resolved, the other one keeps screaming, fighting.
Desperate situations happen very often when you think do not go… If the noise gets too loud, scatter the children from different angles to reflect, and during that time you manage quickly, calm down. We learn to apologize to each other, to speak calmly, ”says Eglė.

As another difficulty, a woman points out a relationship with a man when there is not enough time to talk, to discuss how to raise children. According to Egle, when they are educated, they are often on opposite sides, making it difficult to find a balance.
“I am the one who allows the children to try everything: how to climb a tree, even if they fall. As a mother, I watch them climb cautiously and fearlessly. And my husband asks why I quit. He is more afraid than I am, he would tend to prohibit everything from children, ”says E.Šeikienė.
He found time even for creativity
Since E.Šeikien revol’s daily life revolves around taking care of children and the home, it is difficult for her to find free time, but the mother of four still decided to participate in activities that would allow her to escape from everyday life for at least some time. minus a minute. Even five years ago, while walking through the woods with a first-born wheelchair, Egle wondered how he could contribute to the nurturing of nature. Thus was born with the idea of starting to develop products from secondary raw materials.
“I started creating accessories that were mainly related to children: swings, toys, something I did by myself. In the end, I decided not to hide what I was doing, to share it with people, so I created a Facebook page and then an online store “Va ir va kaip”, – E.Šeikienė remembers the beginning of his work.
Eglė learned the secrets of sewing gradually, as she admits, she is self-taught. She received lessons from both the seamstress’s grandmother and her mother, a clothing designer. By listening to the advice and learning from her mistakes, the woman realized that she had the greatest amount of denim material close to her heart.

“Jeans are a strong fabric, they look decorative, they fit into any interior, so I make most of them. I gather materials from my husband, my children, when I go to my homeland I pick up the jeans from my mother, my sister, my sister’s husband. If I need something more colorful, I stick with old dresses or blouses, ”says E.Šeikienė.
At first, Eglė, who was very distracted and tried to create everything, says that she realized that it is better to focus and do what works best. As an example, give swings and hammocks as gifts, and make backpacks and bags with the remains of the material. Egle made a pillow from the smaller pieces and has been trying to tie the rug for a year. However, as she says, there is no rush with this latest project.
Although most of the works are by E.Šeikienė, the woman mentions her father, who helps her if she needs wooden details or accessories.
“Sometimes I come up with an accessory for children, so I draw my dad how I imagine it, write the measurements, and he implements the idea of wood,” Eglė says of dad’s help.
The hardest part is finding free time.
Eglė says that so far people mainly buy cheaper products: brooches, backpacks, children’s bags. According to her, everyone looks for the cheapest possible products and is sometimes outraged by the higher prices in stores, but the woman points out that everything is handmade and should be appreciated.
“It just came to our notice then. Just on the donation side, like 30 percent. We allocate income to the Sengirė fund, so the prices are slightly higher. Then you calculate the time invested, ropes, other costs …
Compared to other online stores, you will find that my prices are not more expensive than the market. Of course, there are always cheaper products. However, a mass-produced product damages nature and I sell handmade items, I have the goal of conserving nature, ”says E.Šeikienė.
Despite frequent comments about the high prices, Egle is pleased with the notable wave of sustainability on social media.
“People try not to throw away, offer things to others, exchange, recycle. Public awareness is increasing, but it would be impossible for me to survive from my activities. In addition, creation takes a long time, ”says Eglė.

E.Šeikienė, who plans to return to work after maternity leave, admits that it is currently more difficult to find time for creativity. Although it is only discovered when the children are asleep, the woman tries to sit at least briefly to sew and thus break from work at home.
“It takes me longer to take a nice photo of a product and present the information in an orderly way on social media. Administrative work takes me a long time, I prefer to dedicate it to creativity because my head is full of ideas and I don’t have enough time.
Creativity relaxes me and gives me meaning. Now that I have children, it is a way to break away from the house and its puppies, at least for a while. But trust me, the hugs, the smiles, the kisses of the children redeem all the misery and sacrifice. “Mom, I love you very much” I listen to it very often “, Eglė is happy.
