According to Giedrė Aleksienė, head of the NVSC’s Communicable Disease Management Division, acting temporarily as director, compared to the previous weeks, there are signs of stabilization of the situation on the outbreak map.
“Recently, we have recorded 30-40 percent. Growth trends of active shoots on a weekly basis. So last week stands out in a good way as we see the flattening of the curve. We also recorded it in educational institutions, where, although the growth of active shoots was, it did not reach a tenth ”, says G. Aleksienė.
As a result, he said, it is now crucial to consider the recommendation on telecommuting.
“We observe that the virus circulates in a circle that includes educational institutions and workplaces through relatives. Generally speaking, the infection reaches families of different social origins and continues to spread to other social settings where members of those families work, study, or visit. So teleworking is an opportunity in which we can close certain avenues for the virus to spread, stopping said circulation of the virus in a circle. If there is an opportunity, we strongly recommend that telework be prioritized, ”emphasized the doctor. epidemiologist.
No significant changes are observed in the structure of the shoots.
At the end of last week, the most active outbreaks were registered in educational institutions. 325 outbreaks accounted for almost 60 percent. all active COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the country. Compared with week 38 of the year, the structure of the outbreaks did not change: the absolute majority, that is, about 88%, were outbreaks registered in primary, basic and secondary schools.
The highest number of active outbreaks in educational institutions was recorded in Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai counties, the lowest – in Tauragė, Utena and Alytus counties.
The increase in active outbreaks was also recorded by epidemiologists last week at medical institutions. Here there were a third more active outbreaks (61) than a week earlier (45).
Specialists also identified more active outbreaks last week in manufacturing, commerce, the food industry, construction, logistics and transportation, agriculture and services. In week 39 of the year, the increase in outbreaks in these sectors was negligible, ranging from a few to several percent.
At that time, the downward trend of outbreaks in the last week of September was observed in both sewing companies and social services. Five (six weeks ago) and 11 (12 weeks ago) active outbreaks of COVID-19 were reported, respectively. According to epidemiologists, preventing outbreaks in establishments of this profile, where large outbreaks broke out last fall, is not only a good sign, but also a great example of the importance of vaccination for the epidemiological situation.
In total, 546 active COVID-19 outbreaks were recorded in Lithuania at the end of last week, compared with 504 the previous week.
The NVSC recalls that an outbreak is a sudden spread of a communicable disease that affects a limited number of people and / or a limited area, that is, two or more interrelated cases of the disease in time and space.
Specialists recall that mass vaccination is carried out in Lithuania, so all people over 12 years of age are encouraged to register for vaccination online at www.koronastop.lt or, if it is not possible to do so, call direct line number 1808. From 12 years. It can be vaccinated with Comirnaty (manufactured by Pfizer and BioNTech) or Spikevax (manufactured by Moderna). Children are registered for the vaccine by their parents (adoptive parents), guardians, or caregivers.
