Previously, it was proposed to increase the MMA by 61 euros (9.5 percent) to 703 euros, but the Minister of Social Security and Labor, Monika Navickienė, hinted earlier this month that the MMA could grow even more.
The issue of raising MMA is on the agenda for Wednesday’s government meeting, but the material has yet to be presented Tuesday night.
If the Government agrees in principle, the proposal will be presented to the Tripartite Council on Friday and the Government will have to make the final decision in October, when the draft budget for 2022 is presented to the Seimas.
MMA now stands at € 642.
The Tripartite Council, made up of representatives of employers, workers and the Government, did not reach a consensus on the increase of the MMA and presented different positions to the Government.
The Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Lithuania proposed increasing the MMA to € 703, and worker representatives sought an increase to € 750, while employers suggested abstaining entirely until the effects of the pandemic on companies in the country they were clear.
The Labor Code stipulates that MMA can only be paid for unskilled work.
