On Tuesday, it became clear that about 10 children whose parents did not agree to have their children tested were also taken to a school in the Kaunas district.
Parents tried to manipulate
Alina Kovalevskaja, Senior Advisor to the Vilnius City Municipality Administration, said that so far the municipality has been informed about a case where parents brought their child to school without a coronavirus test, this happened this week .
“On Tuesday morning, such an incident occurred at the school when parents tried to manipulate and bring in a child who had not been examined. They were warned that the school complied with Government resolutions and OV decisions, which is also mandatory for parents.

“Because we have not yet started evaluating the children, they came to school like everyone else. Parents have not yet written that they agree or disagree, nor have they written a refusal to evaluate their children. But yes, they brought children whose consent to be tested was not provided, ”said Jonas Petkevičius, Head of the Department of Culture, Education and Sports of the Kaunas District Municipality.
According to him, after the Kaunas district municipality entered the municipalities, where primary school children can continue their education only after taking preventive examinations, it was agreed that as of Tuesday the children who refused to take the proof would no longer be in schools.
“We informed them that they should not come. But the school prepared its first test four days later, so all the children attended last week. Now he is not entirely in agreement with the plan: we plan that today the parents who do not agree with the test will no longer marry the children, “said a representative of the municipality.
Asta Gudaitienė, principal of Ringaudai Primary School in Kaunas District, said her parents had decided to ignore the government’s resolution. She said she suggested that these parents turn to the ministries because such actions disrupt the process at the school, which only follows instructions and tries to ensure safe conditions for children to study.
“When we really have small premises in the school today, only adapted to this number of children, the challenge for us to ensure safety is really great, and when such events occur, it is a very complicated and disruptive process,” said the director of the school.
“It is very difficult to work this year anyway, we all understand that. Such interruptions certainly cost the school enough strength and excitement. We could use our energy much more efficiently,” he added.
Ministry: contact education without exams – prohibited
Portal of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport (ŠMSM) lrytas.lt confirmed that if parents do not agree to their children being tested, they should continue distance learning at home.
“Of course, this is an additional burden for both the school and the teacher, because the classroom teacher in this case works both in person and in person. But the school can make an arrangement so that those students who have not returned to contact education can be assigned to another teacher. Minister Jurgita Šiugždinienė said on Wednesday that such situations could be expected, but the most important thing is to talk and try to reach an agreement.
“I really know those situations. We talked to the municipalities that this could happen, and it happened. Certainly, children who are not evaluated should not go to school. In this case, you should talk to your parents, try to convince yourself that the tests they are not dangerous and at that moment resolve the situation ”, said the minister.
Parents willing to take the test feel at a disadvantage

“The primary school students in our municipality have been in contact since March, because we were on the list where the quarantine conditions are more lenient. Now that the situation has worsened, we must try. The school conducted a parent survey on how many people would want to take the tests and in the end there were more reluctant people, so we went back to the distance, ”explained Lina.
“It seems that the school probably doesn’t even have the capacity to combine face-to-face education with distance education – everyone is busy. According to Lina, the reasons parents refuse to take COVID-19 tests on children are varied, but she is outraged that the majority of the school community believes in misinformation.
Here, as with the issue of vaccination, there is a bias that is not based on any logical explanation or personal experience. For the other part of the parents, it is useless if there is at least one positive case in the classroom, because then the family would have to isolate itself and nobody wants that. But most are simply exposed to, I would say, malicious negative attitudes.
In our family both parents are working, so far we have paid a lot of attention to the child, but we can no longer put our work aside. The emotional state of the child is not talked about at all, the child returned from school to shine, satisfied with everything, and at home those screens have a very negative effect on him, ”said the mother of the beginner.
