Assessing that the illegal international migration organized by hostile regimes and the state of emergency in the state pose a threat to the constitutional order of the Republic of Lithuania and the seriousness of society, the Seimas intends to propose to the government to take all measures to control and prevent hybrid aggression.
Politicians representing different Seimas factions on Monday registered their proposals for a draft resolution, which they propose to include in the document.
Zinger Suggests Emphasizing Human Trafficking Backed By Belarusian Regime
Emanuel Zingeris, member of the faction of the Union of the Homeland of the Seimas and the Christian Democrats of Lithuania, proposes in the Seimas resolution to emphasize the trafficking of human beings with the support of the Belarusian regime, the investigation and prosecution of such crime.
“Migrants from the Middle East, mainly Iraq and Africa, who are being directed to the Belarusian regime on the border with Lithuania, are tempted by promises that there is an easy road to Western Europe, and pay the organizers thousands of sums for Such a trip. The Belarusian authorities are also contributing to it.
Migrants from Belarus’ state tourism agency Centrkurort buy travel packages that include air tickets, accommodation in Minsk and escort to the Lithuanian border. Iraqis and Syrians who buy tickets through this agency automatically receive Belarusian visas. Many illegal immigrants who cross the Lithuanian border do not have identity documents; they are disposed of in Belarus or possibly handed over to those who transport people to the border. In Belarus, almost everything is controlled by the government, specifically Aliaksandr Lukashenko, and those things, including the participation of the state tourism agency in the process, could not have happened without Lukashenko’s blessing. Therefore, it is not only a state illegal migration scheme, but also state-backed human trafficking, which is used for the purpose of a hybrid attack against Lithuania, ”says E. Zingeris.
According to him, human trafficking is an international crime, and those who organize it or the states that cover up, support and promote it must be held accountable for it. “According to the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, to which Belarus is a party, it is essential to ensure that these crimes are effectively investigated and prosecuted,” said Zinger, who registered the motion for a resolution.
In this document, he suggests pointing out that “states hostile to Lithuania and the European Union support human trafficking at the state level by organizing the flow of illegal immigrants, which is a violation of human rights and a crime against human dignity and integrity.” .
The Freedom Group is concerned about the human rights of migrants and refugees
The parliamentarians Vytautas Mitalas, Ieva Pakarklytė and Tomas Vytautas Raskevičius, representing the Freedom Faction of the Seimas, in the text of the resolution propose to abandon the provisions that would completely equate the organizers of the hybrid aggression against the Lithuanian state (structures hostile states) and migrants from third countries.
They suggest adding to the text of the resolution that “foreigners from third countries who have illegally crossed the border of the Republic of Lithuania and do not have identity documents could be subject to other conditions of detention, protection and accommodation established by a decision of the Government of Lithuania “. At the same time, recognizing the social and humanistic nature of the migration problem, they propose “a migration policy that guarantees the human rights of migrants and refugees, enshrined in international, regional and national law.”
P. Gražulis has reproaches to President D. Grybauskaitė, the Conservatives and the Landsbergis family
Petras Gražulis, a member of the Seimas faction of the Lithuanian regions, points out that the draft resolution silences the mistakes of the outgoing president Dalia Grybauskaitė and the current ruling majority in foreign policy, which is why, in her opinion, it is necessary to inform the public . about these circumstances.
“The foreign policy of Lithuania dictated by President D. Grybauskaitė and the Conservative Party was a policy of extortion, so it is very harmful for Lithuania, which we can see by comparing our situation with the border of Latvia, where there are almost no illegal immigrants from Belarus, “says Gražulis.
In his view, best practices from Hungary, Israel and the United States in managing illegal migratory flows should also be transferred to Lithuania.
Gražulis, who registered the proposal, proposed withdrawing from the United Nations Global Compact on Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (United Nations Compact on Migration) “because it does not distinguish between genuine economic migrants and refugees and, in principle, prohibits detention of illegal immigrants Migrants (only in extreme cases).
The politician also proposes to express his support for the policies of Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Latvia and Italy on illegal immigrants, and to support their opposition to the UN Migration Pact.
P. Gražulis proposes to dedicate one of the articles of the draft resolution also to the Landsbergis family.
His registered proposal suggests “calling on the Landsbergs to provide accommodation, food and care for illegal immigrants in their private Queen Martha schools and kindergartens” (…), and it would be time to help them in the face of the migration crisis . “.
