More than 4 thousand people have already arrived in Lithuania this year. illegal immigrants, Lithuania has declared an emergency situation due to its influx. The country’s officials take the position that the increase in migratory flows is an organized action of the Minsk regime against Lithuania.

On Monday, Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė signed an order allowing border guards to turn away illegal immigrants going to Lithuania and direct them to border checkpoints or diplomatic missions, BNS wrote.

“More than 100 of those illegal immigrants were not allowed in,” Liubayev told reporters, then explained that “you can talk about 180 people.”

To the Commander’s knowledge, no special measures were used in these operations.

According to the commander, most of the people were handed over by the Varėna border team.

“Where state border violations occurred the most all the time. These are the Druskininkai, Aleksandras Barauskas and Gintaras Žagunis border firewall sections,” said R. Liubajeva.

So far, no action has been observed that the Belarusian side is preparing for provocations in response to Lithuania’s actions.

According to the commander of the border guards, the implementation of this decision was being prepared.

“It just came to our notice then. (…) Preparations have been made for the implementation of this Decision. Various scenarios are envisaged. This includes a scenario where we will have such situations at the state borders and we will observe the reaction of the Belarusian border guards. “said R. Liubayev.

The president calls for the construction of a physical barrier against Belarus as soon as possible.

The SBGS Commander has no doubt that this process can be sped up.

“But we have to understand that a wall, fence or other engineering barrier will not appear in a day or two. We must follow all the procedures provided in our laws. We must guarantee the transparency of the procedures and the efficient use of funds. At the moment, we have a very specific plan for the stages in which the state border will be further strengthened, “said R. Liubajev.

According to the commander of the border guards, the proposals were presented to the Ministry of the Interior and the Government Office. Political consensus will be sought on this issue.

Informed of the decision made

The SBGS commander recalled this on August 2. The Minister of the Interior, Head of Emergency Operations at the state level, signed a decision on the management of the massive influx of foreigners in the border area near the state border of the Republic of Lithuania with the Republic of Belarus and the strengthening of the state border protection.

“Persons attempting to enter the territory of the Republic of Lithuania illegally will be denied entry and sent to the nearest operational international border control point.

The dissuasive actions and measures provided for in paragraphs 2 and (…) of Article 28 of the Law on State Borders and their Protection of the Republic of Lithuania may be used against persons who do not take into account the specified legal requirements and instructions. of officials, ”said R. Liubajevas.

According to the Border Guard Commander, the implementation of this decision began on August 3. midnight. The High Representative of the Republic of Belarus for Border Protection was informed.

The Border Guard Commander said officials, with the authority and ability to assess each situation individually, make decisions.

“Those decisions are being enforced by our border guards. In this case, our guards’ senior firewall leaders and team leaders have all the powers and instructions on how to implement these decisions, and they are implementing those decisions,” said R Liubajev.

The situation with the accommodation of migrants has not changed

R. Liubajev, head of the State Border Guard Service (SBGS), says that the situation with the accommodation of migrants in the firewalls has not changed: the units of the service are still overcrowded, writes BNS.

“Basically, the situation in our apartments has not changed so far. We have enough illegal immigrants who are still housed in our units,” Liubajev told reporters on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, at this time we not only have to ensure the protection of the state border, we also have to ensure the accommodation of illegal migrants, as well as perform certain functions that are related to logistics,” he said.
