Kirkilas began at the press conference.
He said that the second round would end, the election was not over, the question remained: whether people would choose the center-left forces or would they move to the right.
“We are participating in the third election, the first was the municipal election almost two years ago, we gathered 19 thousand votes, we significantly improved our results in the European elections, we collected more than 26,000 votes. Votes. And in these elections we improved our results again. positions, we collected 37 thousand votes, but that was not enough to overcome the 5% barrier. But we have four candidates in single-member districts who will participate in the second round of elections and have a good chance of winning, “said G. Kirkilas.
Juozas Bernatonis assumed that the first round can be considered a defeat for the Social Democrats, since the former Social Democrats were expected to receive around 15%, and they themselves thought it would exceed 5%. limit, but this did not happen. The polls may have put Social Democratic leaders to sleep, and the pandemic has set foot in new parties that have not had a chance to show themselves to the electorate.

He did not rule out that he would not continue to be the leader of the party, that there was something to choose from, there were many people in the party with parliamentary experience in the work of the Government. “There really is potential,” he said.

G. Kirkilas did not hide that he has a lot of experience, so he hopes to continue using it correctly, but regrets that this experience is not adequately valued in Lithuania. “We still remember how Algirdas Brazauskas tried to teach international relations, it didn’t end well,” he said.
The social worker leader also regretted that there is no political commentator in Lithuania who sympathizes with, or at least objectively evaluates, the left forces. For this reason, the election results must be judged fairly well.
L. Linkevičius “does not appropriate”
J. Bernatonis assured that it was his seventh election to the Seimas, five won, but he has no intention of running again, except to help his teammates.
When asked if Linas Linkevičius could become his successor in the presidency of the party chairman, G. Kirkilas said the idea is a very good one. He praised the work and experience of L. Linkevičius in the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, because his personal connections contribute a lot to the proper work in this position. However, it is still unclear what awaits L. Linkevičius.

In the parliamentary elections in the multi-member constituency, the Lithuanian Christian Democrats of the National Union received the most votes, more than 24 percent. votes, there are 23 seats. The Lithuanian Union of Greens and Peasants received 17.5 percent. votes and 16 seats.
