On Monday evening, the border guards of the Švenčionys firebreak of the SBGS Vilnius border team in the village of Vigadka in the Švenčionys district captured a person on the Belarusian side with video surveillance cameras. He launched rectangular packages into the territory of Lithuania through a fence that separated the two states.

Information about this was immediately relayed to the nearest former patrols, SBGS reports.

SBGS officials at the scene, assisted by a dog handler with a service dog, saw three people with carriers emerging from the forest nearly half a kilometer from the Belarusian border.

The trio, after leaving the border guards, dumped their cargo and tried to run, but after the first warnings from SBGS officers, they changed their minds and surrendered.

It turned out that the detainees are 23, 24 and 29-year-old residents of the Švenčionys district. These individuals already know the border guards.

The men carried 999 packs of Fest cigarettes marked with special Belarusian brands in their bags.

The people of Švenčionys had no right to be in the state border protection zone and in the border zone. The two men also did not have the required identity documents. After inspecting the site, SBGS officials found no more suspicious people or objects.

Residents of the Švenčionys district face fines of 3,500 to 6,000 for smuggling and 5,000 to 6,000 euros for repeated transport of excise goods in violation of established procedure.

The troika will also have to take administrative responsibility for the absence of identity documents in the border section. After the polls, the Saints run. They were served summons to go to the Švenčionys border guard to hear the administrative cases. This SBGS unit also stocks illegal contraband.
