The pursuit of police officers in Kalvarija Township, Jurgežeriai village, was stopped through the use of a forced vehicle stop (“hedgehog”). In the car, 49 boxes of illegally transported excise goods (cigarettes) worth around 78,000 euros were found and seized. The official vehicle was damaged during the car chase.
The suspect and those accompanying the shipment (born in 1981 and 1978) were arrested.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched in accordance with article 199-2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. 2 d.
All those arrested are Polish citizens and the Škoda Superb also found three sets of counterfeit license plates, walkie-talkies, large sums of money and gloves.
According to the police, the car was adapted for smuggling and the possible escape of the agents. The Škoda Superb was accompanied by a Peugeot 307 and a VW Passat.
They detected radio stations, large sums of money, as well as BlackBerry phones.
