Most of the VLG Group companies contribute to the implementation of this project. Design work is done by Western Baltic Engineering. The basic project for the ferry has now been completed and submitted to the rating agency Bureau Veritas (BV) for approval. Additionally, 3D hull and systems modeling work is being completed, production work documentation is being prepared, and ship’s equipment is being ordered, the press release says.
Mindaugas Čiakas, Managing Director of Smiltynės Perkėla AB, is convinced that the new ferry will not only complement the company’s line, but will also improve the quality of services provided by the company and open up new perspectives to further expand the scope of the activities.

Smiltynės perkėlai is building a 60 meter long and 14 meter wide universal passenger and cargo ferry. The ship will be able to carry up to 1,000 passengers or at least 40 cars and 600 passengers, or eight trucks with a total weight of up to 44 tons each. The hull of the ferry will be constructed of steel and the superstructure of aluminum. The ferry is scheduled to operate in the old and new ferry terminals.
