Skvernelis: The rulers engage not only in cheap revenge but also humiliation

In a press conference Wednesday, S. Skvernel called such behavior cheap revenge and humiliation.

“It is unfortunate that these statements about the new political culture ended very quickly, and less than a week later we are already seeing the real picture. It is unfortunate that the new Seimas rulers have taken cheap revenge, not only on him, but also with an attempt to humiliate the largest opposition faction, “said the politician.

The prime minister said there were already lies from the new ruling majority in less than a week.

“It just came to our knowledge then. But now there is a ‘new political culture.’ This is the first time in the history of parliamentarism that the largest opposition faction is nowhere represented,” Skvernelis said.

According to him, the speech of the ruling majority about the fact that the leader of the opposition will represent the LVŽS on the Seimas Board has also been broken.

“And the attempt to say that (the party, aut. P.) will have an opposition leader, again, is intrigue and a lie. The president of the Seimas is well aware that the LVŽS faction does not have enough members of the Seimas to have an opposition leader. And knowing your work, very good work behind the scenes with the other two opposition factions, when a party does not want to formally sign an agreement, it seems that there will be no opposition leader in the near future.

That is, we will not be represented anywhere. It is not just about the members of the Seimas, the largest opposition faction, but also about the attitude towards the hundreds of thousands of people who voted for the Lithuanian Union of Peasants and Greens ”, explained the politician.

S. Skvernelis said that the largest peasant-green faction in the opposition would follow the principle “you will not be cute by force.”

“If the rulers think that such a political culture, their bulldozer and their revenge should respond to parliamentary work in this way, we are not needed anywhere, then I think we will take that position, you will not be cute by coercion. And as the saying goes “The words are not shown, but the facts. We can declare one …”, he said.

Delphi recalls that Aušrinė Norkienė, candidate for vice president of the Seimas presented by the LVŽS on Tuesday during the afternoon session of the Seimas, did not obtain the required number of votes.

Following this decision, Seimas spokesperson Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen spoke with two opposition factions: the LVŽS and the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP) about other candidates. Sabatauskas had enough votes and became vice president of the Seimas.
