Skvernelis on the Conservatives’ results – I think Kubilius contributed to that

He was asked if LVŽS and the Union of the Fatherland, the Lithuanian Christian Democrats, could form a coalition.

“Not me personally, but in the name of that, Lithuania, perhaps the party presidents, would sit at the table in one situation or another. The situation is not favorable, we see what is happening everywhere and with us. But no I think it is a current situation in which we must talk about a broad coalition to rescue the homeland.

They (Conservatives – Delphi) had made a serious enough statement that they were also determined to work in a minority government. Anyway it will depend on it. Otherwise, it is difficult to imagine. The largest faction and its leaders will likely receive the invitation from the President of the Republic of Lithuania to meet first and that order or authority to form a coalition. Then perhaps I will be able to present the results to the president. The head of state will see if that coalition is stable or if the second political party should have the task of forming a coalition. I think it should be as usual in a democracy. The party that has received the largest number of seats has the right and even the duty to form a government, ”said S. Skvernelis.

According to the Prime Minister, in the Seimas he would imagine his work in the National Security and Defense or Law and Order Committees.

“Four years at Seimas in position or opposition, I think, would be my productive year. The prime minister added that this year’s election campaign was fleeting and more boring than that of 2016. This may have been influenced by the coronavirus pandemic.

In evaluating the period between the first and second rounds of the Seimas elections, S. Skvernelis stated:
