“I think after rejecting a couple of episodes, I would really say there was no conflict and no war, as someone tried to do,” Skvernel said of his cooperation with the president as head of government.

According to him, the meeting with G. Nausėda that took place on Wednesday was precisely aimed at discussing the work of the government he heads.

“We talked about both the four years and the year and a half in which I had to work with the president. We remember what was done, what was not done, how it was. I can only reiterate that I believe it was constructive and respectful work to achieve the highest goals. Sometimes there was a natural competition between the authorities, a difference of opinion, “the interim prime minister told reporters after Wednesday’s government meeting.

“I hope … this cooperation will continue in one form or another,” he added.
ELTA recalls that the Prime Minister referred to the “winter” of his relations with the President after the relations between the Presidency and the Government were overshadowed by the history of the Minister of Transport and Communications Jaroslav Narkevičius. G. Nausėda has repeatedly stated that he no longer trusts J. Narkevičius, who is wrapped up in scandalous stories. However, despite calls from the president, the prime minister refused to fire J. Narkevičius.
President Skvernel was also criticized for the history of the so-called “highway.”

However, despite the changing relations between the Presidency and the Government, in an interview with Elta in early November, the president also responded positively to S. Skvernel. According to G. Nausėda, as a person, S. Skvernelis really deserves praise.

“Mr. Skvernel has done a lot humanly. This is a mature politician. And that is what I say, despite the fact that I myself have criticized him for some of the decisions: both by that path and by the Minister. But in the end, I think today we can bravely look into each other’s eyes and realize that we have both done our job. And if we do not agree somewhere, you will do nothing, “said G. Nausėda in an interview with Eltai.
