Sinkevičius: the opening of the whole of Lithuania is scheduled for the second half of March, but it is not clear if it will be temporary

“You know, there is much talk, politicians argue, then epidemiologists and experts intervene, many times they have more weight in decision-making than politicians who have the mandate of a nation, it is tentatively said that after mid-March the movement could be released, using the word that here there are conglomerates, there is simply a group of municipalities where the situation is better, you think about them first, most are in the northwest, so perhaps they could be opened first. It seems that the opening of All of Lithuania is scheduled for the second half of March, but Easter is approaching, it is not yet clear whether it will be a temporary opening, ”says M. Sinkevičius.

When asked why not all municipalities have enough evidence, the interviewee assured that the question of evidence remains a personal human choice.

“You know, that is the relationship between human rights and understanding. I can give many illustrative examples. Probably all citizens know that vaccination is a human right, like a test, it is a human right, and the heads of the Institutions cannot say, more or less like this: you know, in the team, tomorrow everyone will travel to do the test all week.

You have to ask and persuade people. Considerable requests and efforts are required to make this a necessary process for the state. Sometimes, with harsher rhetoric, it happens that leaders complain to unions that supposedly pressure the leaders and do not have that authority. This is illustrated by the fact that citizens, having a choice, decide to do nothing, ”says M. Sinkevičius.

When asked if the problem of vaccination is very relevant in the Jonava region, the politician assured that there are different people and opinions.

“It just came to our knowledge then. It is a fact that our specialists and representatives of the municipality assure that the desire of the elderly who want to be vaccinated among the elderly is greater than among educators. This is a good indicator. The problem is that Astrazeneca , as a vaccine, it is as if the public is discredited, no one, or the majority of the public, hearing this vaccine, wants to wait for another vaccine. Astrazeneca has a very negative impact on society for being unreliable, complicating the use of the vaccine , but there are different positions ”.
