Simplified wallets for club organizers: fines imposed on dances in supermarkets

In the following days, similar “discos” were held in other supermarkets.

However, for the organizers themselves, the idea ended quite frustratingly: the police launched an investigation, fines were imposed, and the behavior of traders and buyers was evaluated.

Scrambled three supermarkets

The Maxima nightclub was thundering on the night of February 12, and the following day the organizers, Laisvalaikis Šilutė, continued this movement at the IKI shopping center. After the first performance, the popular “Maxima” nightclub videos spread the news about the ongoing movement, so IKI gathered more curious people.

The IKI show was short-lived too. Although the people reacted with joy, had fun and danced, the supermarket staff called the police. By the time the officers arrived, all the participants in the fun show had already left the store.

February 14, one of the organizers of the event, requesting anonymity, received a police call. He was fined € 15 upon arrival at the police station. He said he did not violate quarantine conditions. “People themselves choose how to behave,” the man told Šilutė News.

On the night of February 16, the event participants continued their movement at the Lidl shopping center. Three police teams were already waiting at the mall’s site, although a Lidl security officer said they did not call the police. “Officials arrived at the mall before the event met and warned about the large flow of people that was expected,” the security guard said.

When the dances failed, the event participants stood in a circle around the police car in the parking lot and clapped, thanking the police. However, after the moment when the police left the plaza of the mall, the participants turned to Lidl while playing music and began to dance. Šilutė respondents said they came to the supermarket because of the event. One buyer made no secret of buying something “just for the video.”

Dancing in the tent

Dancing in the tent

“I’m tired of sitting at home, I want to go out and have fun. The police enter the store as if we are planning a robbery. We don’t break anything and we don’t hurt, ”said the woman.

The organizers of the movement – “Laisvalaikis Šilutė” shared their thoughts about the purpose of this campaign on social media, answered questions from “Šilutė News”.

– How do you evaluate the possible consequences of this event? After all, is it forbidden to congregate during quarantine?

– All the people wore masks. Everyone came neatly and came out neatly. As much as he let supermarkets in, he did too.

Everyone wants to dance! Police officers, border guards, probation officers, etc. they are dancing. So why can’t ordinary people dance? Because of the number of people in the stores, no one cares how many come or go, no one counts.

There were two security guards standing at the entrance. Did you control how many people came? Do not! The most important thing is the flow of people and profits. While small businesses are barely surviving to close, large supermarkets are going through a golden age. Let the supermarkets now go into quarantine for two months until the little ones recover from the losses of the quarantine!

– Aren’t you afraid of the police and fines?

-Now that’s what scares people, that’s how the budget is collected, that’s how officials manage to raise more than 257 euros during the quarantine.

– How do you evaluate the results of the event? Have you reached your planned goal?

– The numbers speak for themselves. Will there be an extension? Of course! All over Lithuania!

Police impose fines

Silute d. Remigijus Rudmin, head of the police station, said that these events were considered a minor violation of public order. Under article 481 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, the police have initiated administrative procedures, for which a fine of between 30 and 140 euros can be imposed. But if a person is not penalized and agrees to have committed an offense, they can be fined with half the minimum fine.

According to R. Rudmin, fines have already been imposed on at least some organizers, there may be more penalties.
“We are explaining all the circumstances. But I do not rule out that an investigation could be opened under another article – for violation of the quarantine conditions,” said the head of the SC.

The study will also evaluate the behavior of merchants and buyers. “If the merchants were active, they invited the policemen, it will be treated in the same way. But if they have contributed to the organization of the event themselves, they may already receive a different evaluation. The same applies to shoppers: if they came to the stores, they just joined the movement, one, but if they organized, something else, “said R. Rudmin.
