According to I. Šimonytė, the members of the expert council had a meeting on this issue last week, and during the meeting there were differences of opinion on the use of masks.
“I have no doubt that the group led by Professor Kalėdienė will present proposals to the expert council about what changes can be made and under what conditions regarding the use of masks. Here we are talking first of all about open spaces, not spaces closed, ”said I. Šimonytė.
According to the Prime Minister, if an expert recommendation is received to adjust the mask wearing procedure, the Government will consider and introduce changes in this area.
“It is true that the government will rely entirely on what the experts suggest in this regard. As here we are not going to criticize the opinions and personal ideas of anyone, the opinion of the experts will be the main one ”, affirmed I. Šimonytė.
According to the current procedure, all people over the age of 6 must wear masks. The quarantine release plan stipulates that the use of masks in open spaces will no longer be mandatory after entering scenario A, when the number of infections is 100,000. the population will be less than 25 cases. This figure currently stands at 251 cases.
