The quarantine will end in Lithuania on July 1, but certain requirements will remain even after that. It is necessary to follow certain instructions during events and celebrations. For example, in open space events, spectators or participants will only be able to view the event from their seats.

In events organized indoors and outdoors, where spectators or participants see the event not only from the seats, the number of participants is not limited, but only people with an Opportunity Passport can participate.

The mayor of the city of Klaipėda, Vytautas Grubliauskas, who was interviewed by the tv3.lt portal a few days ago, stated that the restrictions that remain in force after the revocation of the quarantine do not satisfy him.

“Klaipeda is the capital of summer events. The capital of big events is the Festival of the Sea, various festivals. Where the limitations of a small regional event are understood and enforced, but where the same requirements will apply, where hundreds thousands of people congregate and there are many events of this kind on the seashore, this is an issue that must be addressed. ”At that time V. Grubliauskas.

Klaipeda asked the Government

Klaipeda Municipality provided a more detailed explanation from the Mayor. Summer events, according to the municipality, are important for the entire coast.

“This summer, events are planned in Klaipeda, which we hope not only to please the local community, nurture cultural traditions, but also promote tourism, help the entertainment sector, small and medium-sized businesses to recover after the quarantine.” Klaipeda Municipality says a letter to tv3.lt.

The next such event is July 23-25. A Festival of the Sea is planned. This, according to the municipality, is the most popular summer event that drew several hundred thousand guests to the city before the pandemic.

Every year, the Festival del Mar is also hosted by artisans, folk artists, cultivators of culinary heritage, representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, for whom it is a great opportunity to present their products, earn money and create entertainment for festival participants. The sea festival fairs have become an integral part of the event, without which the festival is difficult to imagine, ”the municipality writes.

According to the Klaipeda Municipality, open-air commerce is also relevant for other events planned in Klaipeda in summer.

“With the current emergency restrictions, the organization of fairs and outdoor trade becomes impossible. If the situation does not change, the expectations of both the merchants and a significant number of participants in the event will be disappointed.

Furthermore, private financial support for cultural events is also closely related to the food and beverage trade, so the secure solutions and additional launches are really very welcome for many cultural event organizers, ”comments the municipality.

The Klaipeda City Municipality has written a letter to the government asking it to consider changing the restrictions.

“In light of the above, and in order not to disappoint merchants and meet the expectations of event participants, citizens, city guests and to ensure events are properly organized, I ask that you consider amending the legislation existing to abolish or relax economic activities. Restrictions and conditions necessary for the organization of events “, – the letter from the municipality indicates

The celebration will take place anyway.

Liutauras Galinis, director of the public institution Klaipėdos šventės, which organizes the celebrations of the city of Klaipėda, says on tv3.lt that the position of the institution coincides with the attitude expressed by the municipality.

The interlocutor affirms since July 1. ambiguous evaluation of the remaining constraints.

“In the only case, concerts and events can only take place by providing seats or restricting access only to people with passports. We are monitoring the current situation regarding exceptions for events and hope that the exceptions have been applied to Joniniai, such as this is the case now for July 6. commemoration events, although an exception will apply to events organized by us, ”writes L. Galinis.

The Sea Festival, planned, will continue to take place in any case, with or without restrictions.

“If the requirements are maintained, then we will have to fence the main stages where the concerts are planned with fences and barriers. Hire additional staff to verify the passport or organize the seats: rent a large number of chairs. This will especially increase the organization costs , which are actually very carefully calculated after the year of the pandemic, ”says L. Galinis.

It is already clear how the celebration will be this year. L. According to the rear, it is planned to use audible warning signs with requests to maintain a safe distance during the festival.

However, if the municipality’s request is not taken into account, food and beverage merchants will not be able to participate in the fair.

“It is very unfortunate that small businesses have to lose a really large income, which would help them to recover at least a little after the pandemic period. Most likely, those cafes on the Dane River, which are already full, are crowded, people crowd waiting for them to come in, ”says L. Galinis.

It is estimated that around half a million people usually attend the Festival of the Sea. To guarantee their safety, it is planned to orient their flows.

“Let’s see what the catering establishments in Palanga and Šventoji are like during this period. The queues would also be in the shops of the old town. The institution will take care of the security guards, but let’s not forget that this is an event and not a cafe , so no matter how much security there is, it would be difficult to manage the queues at existing cafes. I think that allowing food trade would help dissolve large flows of people and would be a much safer solution than leaving only the coffee shops running. existing restoration ”, says L. Galinis.

The Festival of the Sea in Klaipeda will take place from July 23 to 25.
