The prime minister has not yet been able to answer what restrictions would apply during Easter. He argued that after March 15, when restrictions on movement between municipalities are likely to be lifted, restrictions on movement should be introduced at the municipal level.

“The circulation restrictions now in force are valid until March 15. If it will be necessary to consider the movement restrictions for Easter, I do not really respond now, much will depend on the epidemiological situation at that time. Now we are going to propose restrictions from mid-March more in line with the epidemiological situation of a particular municipality.

In those municipalities where the situation is bad and worse, make traffic restrictions more closely linked to them. It is not about movements between municipalities, where the epidemiological situation is perhaps quite mediocre, ”said the Prime Minister.

When asked to clarify what this procedure would look like, the prime minister said it would be decided next week.

“That is what we are going to consider next Wednesday, because as soon as the movement restrictions end on March 15, they should be extended or set differently,” he said.

President Gitan Nauseda regretted this Wednesday that about 75,000. The coronavirus vaccines are currently in stock and have not yet been vaccinated. I. Šimonytė stated that the process is going as it should, the statistical numbers arrive in the system a little later.

“We very much appreciate the president’s concern, but I think the process is going as it should,” Prime Minister I. Šimonytė said.

The quarantine releases approved by the Government today are not in line with the previously approved quarantine mitigation plan. I. Šimonytė explained that he immediately said that this plan “is not set in stone.”

“Some principles are quite clear, the first is that we can really talk about outdoor activities, spring has begun, people can be outdoors. (…) Such a generalized attitude that classes, circles, similar activities could be given there ”, he explained.

Primary schools will return to more schools in Vilnius: other municipalities will be offered to do the same

Speaking about the government’s permission to allow beginners to return to more schools in Vilnius, using the testing method tested in Prince Gediminas Progymnasium, I. Šimonytė noted that the capital municipality itself had expressed that wish.

“Vilnius was the first to try to test the cumulative method, the test is not over yet. One more test will be done at the end of this week, when we can really say that we have all the information about these two weeks. Until now, so we have, it seems that the test has paid off, ”said the Prime Minister.

According to her, which schools will be considered to allow the return of primary school children will be decided and notified by the municipality itself, while sharing its experience with representatives of other municipalities.

“The Municipality of Vilnius is also determined to teach and share experiences with other municipalities. For this, this week there will be a meeting with the mayors and similar tests will also be offered to other municipalities in their educational institutions. Perhaps in some municipalities and all educational institutions could be subjected to such tests, in some larger ones perhaps only a part, but first of all we need the determination of the municipalities themselves to take it ”, said I. Šimonytė.

According to the Prime Minister, if there is such a need and initiatives, the Government will allow similar attempts to be made in other municipalities.
