I. Šimonytė spoke about it on Thursday on the “Žinių radijo” program “Pozicija”. According to her, the situation in Lithuania is fragile so far, so we have to “race against time”.
“It is especially difficult when people need resuscitation. Because there are still buildings and some other infrastructure to increase that number. But if a resuscitation room is needed, these rooms can really be opened quickly and no country can do much, no matter what the welfare state is, ”I. Šimonytė said on the show.
In response to criticism from the president and the opposition to the “reckless” decisions, I. Šimonytė emphasized that just because of such decisions, the British coronavirus strain is spreading more slowly in Lithuania than in other countries:
“It’s not that the government is doing something just for its own pleasure. {…} We try to do as little unnecessary things as possible. I agree that generations have to make more precise and harsher decisions, such as movement restrictions. {…} Now we clearly have “two Lithuanians”. {…} Certainly there are municipalities where the epidemiological situation is not bad and it is very important for us not to spoil it and allow the situation to improve where it is worse ”.
We learn from our own precedent
The Prime Minister stressed that the elimination of so-called “social bubbles” in different municipalities is only a temporary solution, which is expected to be restored after the holidays.
“We learn more from our own precedent. And those precedents are over, one of them: late fall. I would very much like to see greater mobility of people, more meetings, change the dynamics in the worst direction of the municipalities in a more favorable position ”, said I. Šimonytė.
I. Šimonytė says he is asking for one thing: that society “does not shoot itself in the legs”, because the government itself will not be able to control the situation. According to her, it is possible to take advantage of the improved weather and meet outdoors during Easter, subject to all safety requirements.
“If people do not forget when they have a closer contact, that there is no big house and that masks must be worn, I understand it very well.
I also see young people flocking to the Government House. Young people bear a very high psychological burden during a pandemic. Since he does not go to school, he cannot meet friends. It is natural that the possibility of being somewhere in the open space is a compensation for the psychological state ”, said I. Šimonytė in the program“ Žinių radijo ”.
Vaccination will take place in several directions.
According to I. Šimonytė, after vaccination of people under 65 with chronic diseases, vaccination is planned to be carried out in several directions, so the priority of employees performing vital functions will be less important.
“All these very important professions are behind comorbidities, but I agree with the criticisms and this state of mind and I believe that in general, when we have vaccinated people with comorbidities, it will matter little to us which profession is more important than which is more critical to society than anyone else, ”the prime minister told News Radio on Thursday.
According to the Prime Minister, the rate of vaccination is currently slowing down due to changing schedules and unstable supply. The biggest challenge is said to be in May, when Pfizer vaccines are expected to receive more than 100,000. doses every week. Then the vaccination will be planned in several directions at the same time to achieve effective vaccination.
“Therefore, I believe that vaccination will be carried out on several tracks: one track will be by age groups going through the youngest categories, the other track will be large teams, where it is possible, for example, to reach a large company “. and vaccinate many people who work in a large company at the same time, to expand that coverage, “said I. According to the currently approved procedure for vaccinating people with chronic diseases, there should be a variety of important functions: officials, law enforcement officers, shops and other professionals working in a contact manner.
