Šimonytė expects the renewal of public services to be reconsidered

The Head of Government thanked the Episcopal Conference of Lithuania for the decision to suspend public services after the Cabinet of Ministers tightened the quarantine.

“It seems to me that first of all we should thank the Lithuanian Episcopal Conference for the fact that the services were not public, now they are not. After the government tightened the quarantine. That decision was very local, very timely and seen as a sign of solidarity with the secular leadership.

In the current circumstances, as we still do not have a good knowledge about the improvement of the situation, I would expect a review of the decision, an extension of the period more similar to the period of restrictions applied by the Government, “said the Prime Minister after the meeting of Government.

He reiterated his hope of solidarity.

“I hope, since the update has not yet been done, that this decision will be reconsidered,” he said.

Delphi recalls that on Tuesday the Episcopal Conference of Lithuania announced that public services with believers would resume from January 11.

You see no reason to facilitate the quarantine

Simonas Krėpšta, an adviser to President Gitanas Nausėda, said on Wednesday that Lithuania may have already reached the peak of the second wave.

“We agreed when the restrictions between municipalities were extended. We have agreed that the Government will meet no earlier than January 17 and we will have information from analysts on the dynamics and trends. Then it will be considered, maybe something will relax, ”said the Prime Minister.

He also said that so far he sees no reason to ease the quarantine.
