The Episcopal Conference of Lithuania decided to resume public services with the people from next January 11. It is true that the intention is to limit the number of visitors to Mass.

I. Šimonytė thanked the Lithuanian Episcopal Conference for deciding to end public services at the beginning of the quarantine.

“After the government tightened the quarantine, the Lithuanian Episcopal Conference decided not to organize the service. I think the decision was very local and very timely, we saw it as a sign of solidarity with the secular government,” I. Šimonytė told journalists on Wednesday.

She calls for a similar solution now, before the end of the quarantine.

As we still do not have a good understanding of the improvement in the situation, I would expect a review of this decision, an extension of the period more similar to the period applied by the Government.

The secular government does not refer to the ecclesiastical as secular ecclesial, but solidarity between the two governments, so to speak, in circumstances such as the present, is of the utmost importance. As the update has not yet been carried out, I hope this decision will be reviewed, “expected the Prime Minister.

The quarantine in Lithuania will last until January 31 inclusive.
