The alfa.lt portal wrote about such a statement from Ligija Kliunkienė, representative of the EIM Public Relations Department. The member of the Seimas Saulius Skvernelis asked the Prime Minister to comment on such a position of the Ministry during the Government hour, quoting the words of L. Kliunkienė.

“I think the speech is extremely unethical, so to speak, politely. Maybe I would not speak in a public hearing and it would be rude. I will definitely find out, I missed the opportunity to read this speech,” said I. Šimonytė.

He emphasized that the Passport of Opportunities can be obtained in various ways, not only by mobile phone, but also in printed form.

“There are opportunities to have the Passport of Opportunities not only on your mobile phone, but also to print it, and I really believe that it can be done in various public places, and loved ones can also take care of it. It is not that it is not possible to do it. I am I totally agree with you: this is an extremely disgusting statement. I am sorry, I am very sorry for all those who have offended me, “said I. Šimonytė.

On Thursday, the portal alfa.lt published the words of L. Kliunkienė, representative of EIM, expressed on LRT radio.

“I wanted to ask, why does this old man constantly need that passport of opportunities. (…) Here are the exceptional cases, well I don’t know if any celebration is some kind of wedding. Isn’t that he needs it all the time, he will go there going bowling or going into the restaurant for lunch, who needs that passport? (…) Is it really necessary here during the quarantine? ”- said a representative of the Ministry on the LRT radio program.

It is true, Skaistė Barauskienė, advisor to the Minister of Economy and Innovation, pointed out to the portal that the Opportunity Passport is also available for those who do not use smart technologies and affirmed that the document does not differentiate people by age, gender or nationality.

The Minister of Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė also reacted to these statements on Facebook.

“It just came to our attention then. I am bothered by the comment of an employee of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation about the Passport of Opportunities,” the minister wrote on Facebook on Thursday.

He explained that the Opportunities Passport does not differentiate people by gender, age or nationality.

“The Opportunity Passport does not differentiate people by gender, age or nationality, it is for all people who want to use it. It is an incentive to vaccinate, test and safely exercise the freedoms that return.

A passport of opportunity is available not only to those who use smart technology, but also to those who do not. It is possible to come to the Registry Center, where the Opportunity Passport is printed for free ”, said A. Armonaitė.

She wrote that after this “completely inappropriate comment”, the internal rules of the ministry, the communication of the staff with the media and the people would be reviewed.
