At a remote press conference, R. Šimašius declared that Vilnius is ready for mass vaccination.

“Vaccines are the hottest topic, we discussed them with the Prime Minister. I informed him that, at least from the perspective of the city of Vilnius, the only limitation preventing further vaccination is the lack of vaccines. We all know this perfectly well. We are ready to increase the number of vaccines several times at the same time. 4 outpatient clinics have been designated, all have fluid vaccination, “said the mayor.

R. Šimašius stated that currently in Vilnius about a thousand people are vaccinated per day. persons. Processes can be faster if necessary.

“To date, we vaccinate about 1000 people a day in 4 outpatient clinics. So far, we think this is the right place and space. To at least 5 thousand a day very easily (revolutions, aut. P.) Increase, one or two days. We could also quickly increase it to several tens of thousands, ”he promised.

When asked if Vilnius was looking for a specific location for a mass vaccination center, as Kaunas did with the central post office building, R. Šimašius said that location was not a problem.

“It is not a problem, it is a problem of zero use. Where to get vaccinated. If we see that the need is different, we will find others,” said the Vilnius official.

According to R. Šimiašius, there is no need for a mass vaccination center in Vilnius. So far, there are enough medical institutions.

“If we decide to vaccinate schools, their staff and graduates, it would be easier for not everyone to go somewhere, but for the staff to come to that institution. We are looking for such solutions,” said the mayor of Vilnius.

He reiterated that currently only vaccines are missing.

Delphi Remember that President Gitan Nauseda said last week that he had received a promise from the European Commission (EC) that 70 percent of people in Lithuania would be vaccinated against the coronavirus in mid-summer. This would create herd immunity.

So far, the situation is radically different from wishes. Vaccines arriving in Lithuania do not reach such an advance.

According to G. Nausėda, this objective will not be affected by the knowledge of the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca about the supply of vaccines to Lithuania that is lower than expected.
