“We all ask: When you can’t keep up with social distance, put on a mask, whether you like it or not, they take effect,” Trump said at a White House press conference.

A journalist asked why D. Trump, wearing the mask as a manifestation of patriotism, rarely wears it. To this, the White House host replied that he was wearing the mask with him and that he was ready to wear it if necessary. As proof, he took the mask out of his jacket pocket and showed it to the crowd. “I use it, I use it, you have seen me with it many times, I will use it,” he added.

Previously, the American leader stated that he did not intend to introduce a rule in the country regarding the pandemic that all residents must wear protective masks. According to him, wearing masks is beneficial, although there may be some negative consequences. On Monday, D. Trump wrote on Twitter that he considers wearing a protective mask is a manifestation of patriotism.

D. Trump first donned a protective mask in public on July 12 when he visited the Walter Reed Military Medical Center in the Washington suburbs. The White House host has been repeatedly criticized in the past by political opponents who said he sets a bad example for citizens by attending public events without a mask. In an interview in early July, Trump said he was wearing a protective mask similar to a comical western character, a lone hobo, who was wearing a black mask.
