“According to preliminary data, about 300 people are participating in the demonstration and about 500 in the march,” the Department of National Policy of the Primary Region told Interfax.

Protesters disrupted traffic in downtown Vladivostok. According to unconfirmed data, the police arrested about 10 protesters.

Navaln’s allies plan to hold demonstrations in dozens of cities on Saturday to support the Kremlin critic. Navaln was arrested on January 17 at the Sheremetyevo airport after returning to Russia from Germany, where he was treated for five months after poisoning Novičiok, a nerve paralyzing substance created by the Soviets.

The opposition accuses President Vladimir Putin of ordering the Russian security services to poison him. The Kremlin categorically denies it.

Navalno’s comrades urged the Russians to take to the streets despite pressure from the government and promised financial aid to the protesters who will be fined on Saturday.

Several close associates of A. Navaln, including the famous activist Liubovė Sobol and her representative Kira Jarmyš, were arrested on Thursday night for urging Russians to participate in the demonstrations. Detainees face heavy fines and brief incarcerations.
