The renewed German championship has an unexpected result. Bayern Munich, who defended the title, were unable to cross the barrier in the quarterfinals.
Bavarian club in the quarterfinal match 74:73 (23:18, 22:18, 11:16, 18:21) passed the MHP Riesen of Ludwigsburg, but such a victory was not enough.
Bayern lost the first game of the 83:87 series, so today the Bavarians had to win by more than 4 points.
Bayern had a 12-point lead in the middle of the third quarter (55:43), but MHP Riesen’s basketball players managed to return to the game. Even before the fourth quarter, the Ludwigsburg team reduced the deficit to 4 points (52:56).
MHP Riesen was at the start of the deciding quarter and went ahead briefly, but Bayern did not let the opponents get ahead. Paul Zipser and Vladimir Lučičius scored three points, but MHP Riesen did not break and managed to respond with his successful attacks.

After a short time, Lučičius made both free throws, but Thomas Wimbush hit a triple and restored MHP Riesen’s minimal lead early in the last minute of the match (71:70).
Still, Bayern entered a decisive storm. Mathias Lessort noticed the penalties and scored 16 seconds with a foul and Bayern’s lead increased to 3 points: 74:71. However, the striker failed to make a free kick and the result remained unchanged.
