A young cosmetologist will be sued for allowing hyaluronic acid injections to clients without a license.

According to the Financial Crimes Investigation Service (FNTT), which carried out the investigation on Friday, the cosmetologist administered so-called beauty injections for the face (filled with hyaluronic acid) to her clients at two beauty salons in Kaunas.

In almost three years, the defendant allegedly purchased 792 boxes of pre-filled syringes with hyaluronic acid from a company that markets fillers, for a total of 1,563 syringes. Officials estimated that the amount of the purchases could have exceeded 134 thousand. euros. The cost of a procedure ranged between 140 and 200 euros.

According to the FNTT, although she did not have a valid license to participate in intervention services that can only be performed by doctors, the girl gave clients injections in the lips, adjusted other facial areas, used a mechanical apparatus for procedures hyaluronic needle and provided other services with hyaluronic acid.

The investigation was led by the Prosecutor of the Second Prosecution Division of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office. The pre-trial investigation was launched after a joint inspection by the FNTT Kaunas Regional Board and the Kaunas County State Tax Inspectorate.

The most severe punishment for engaging in large-scale illegal professional activities without a license is imprisonment for up to four years. It is also possible to confiscate the product and instruments obtained from the intervention procedures.
