Lithuanian basketball leaders who participated in the meeting did not wrap themselves in cotton and said the situation is dramatic.

We are trying not to lose them and we are not doing well so far but I will be open, we are slow to pay the players. If there are no compensations, those debts will drag on and you will have to think about how to pay them off in the coming seasons. The situation is sad. We would not ask for support if we had spectators. Now we don’t have the rod with which we can fish, “said the CEO of Žalgiris.

However, Vice Minister of Economy and Innovation Vincas Jurgutis could not promise anything concrete so far and stated that there are no additional subsidies in the approved budget of the Seimas.

“It just came to our attention then. The budget has a budget of 230 million euros and the measures are already worth around 350 million euros. I don’t know how to get rid of additional millions,” said V. Jurgutis.

The athletes did not hear positive signals from the Vice Minister of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania, Gediminas Norkūnas, or the Vice Minister of Education, Science and Sports Linas Obcarskas.
