A pre-trial investigation into smuggling was initiated at the Vilna branch of the MKT and is led by the Third Prosecution Division of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Forensic customs scientists arrested and interrogated the suspects as employees of a Vilnius coal-importing company and a person related to the crime, who may have contributed to the crime. Written promises were made not to leave both suspects.

This is the fourth major interception of cigarette smuggling in rail transport this year, and the other three occur at the Kena rail post.
