Kaunas “Žalgiris” is ready for another trip to the Euroleague: the Lithuanian champions will travel to France, where they will compete with the ASVEL team from Vilerban.
The French club have missed the last three Euroleague matches due to a team-hit coronavirus and are returning to qualification specifically for this match. Just hours before Žalgiris’s flight, ASVEL announced that it had conducted additional tests and gathered enough healthy players for the match to take place.
The Vilerban club, which had not played a game for two weeks, did not disclose the names of the players who were playing or who were still ill, so Žalgiris’ preparation for the game was still quite difficult.
Žalgiris strategist before the game Martin Schiller shared his thoughts on a competitor who had not played for a long time and was unable to train full time.
“It just came to our knowledge then. We don’t know which of their players will be able to compete, so let’s prepare for all the options. We have the only way and we also prepare for the match against Chimki. We have no way of knowing who will play,” said the strategist.
