Kaunas “Žalgiris” set out for France on Wednesday afternoon, where they will meet team Vilelbanas ASVEL, who did not play for three weeks, on Thursday. As usual, Žalgiris head coach Martin Schiller shared his thoughts ahead of the next match.
“We just realized that they wouldn’t play for three weeks. We don’t know which ASVEL basketball players will be playing tomorrow, so we’re preparing as if they were the full lineup. When asked how difficult it is to prepare for a game when it is unclear which rival basketball players will appear on the field, Schiller recalled a previous meeting with Chimki.

Speaking about the Žalgiris camp, Schiller had a good knowledge and announced that Martin Geben, who was suspended last week due to achilles tendon pain, would be ready for a duel and go to France with the team. All the other people from Žalgiris, except Patricio Garino, will also appear at tomorrow’s meeting.
Schiller also stressed that the most important thing in tomorrow’s meeting will be to prevent the ASVEL team from hosting the Žalgiris penalty area.
“ASVEL is a very athletic team that can play fast basketball. They try to play in the penalty area, with their backs to the basket. So, our main tasks will be to control the defense of the fast attack and expel them from the penalty area, ”said the specialist.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Lithuanian government decided that a total of 300 spectators will be able to attend basketball and other sporting events. However, Schiller remained positive.
