Kaunas “Žalgiris” has agreed to a two-year contract with the coach, who is increasingly appreciated throughout the Atlantic and has already been monitored by NBA clubs.

The strategist, who started his coaching career in 2004, has gained considerable experience in European basketball: Schiller spent most of his career working for German clubs and was also an assistant coach for the country’s men’s basketball team.
Since 2017, the coach has been the head coach of the Salt Lake City Stars team in the NBA G League, and this year he was recognized as the best coach in this league.
The outbreak of the COVID-19 virus ended the NBA G-League season prematurely, but by then, the Salt Lake City club of Schiller had won 30 wins and suffered 12 losses. It was the second best result in the entire league.
New helmsman Žalgiris is known as a coach with a clear system and the ability to include players in him, whose NBA G-league team stood out with unusually smart basketball for this league.
“Žalgiris has done a lot in the last few years and I want to continue raising the level of the organization, move forward and be part of this journey. As for my basketball philosophy: of course, we want to be strong on defense. We will have clear rules of defense that we will have to keep going, creating a unified defense like a fist. In an attack we have to use the field area, share the ball, we have to make quick decisions and use the penalty area. We want to create a beautiful basketball for our eyes , which has been done so far, ”said Schiller.
After interviews with the candidates for the coaching position, Žalgiris’ management was very impressed by Schiller, who bribed with his vast baggage of knowledge, versatility, discipline and ability to demand the maximum results from his players.
