The Ministry recommends a shorter interval for teachers and graduates, depending on their study plans and exam schedules, as well as for other vaccinated groups, if a longer pause between the first and second doses of the vaccine can negatively affect their performance.
Advance administration of a second dose of Vaxzevria is also recommended in populations for which periodic testing is mandatory until subjects have been vaccinated according to the full vaccination schedule.
Residents who received a second dose of the vaccine after 12 weeks and who, under reasonable circumstances, would like to receive it earlier, should contact the vaccination center. Such requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
According to the Summary of Product Characteristics, Vaxzevria is administered in two doses, 4 to 12 weeks apart. A review of clinical trials indicates that more antibodies and stronger immunity develop after a longer hiatus, which is why the SAM recommended a maximum period of 12 weeks.
