On Saturday morning, Aleksandras Barauskas border guards and Purvėnai firewalls from the SBGS Varėna border team organized an ambush in the village of Daržininkai in the Varėna district. Illegal cargo was known to be transportable in the Būdai Forest Massif. From this place to the Lithuanian-Belarusian border: 3 kilometers.
Buckwheat grabbed the suspect’s hand.
SBGS officials watched a group of individuals load packages into a Volkswagen Passat parked in the woods. During the arrest, border guards managed to catch two carriers. Grikis, a five-year-old Belgian shepherd who helped SBGS officers, was caught in an instant by one of them, who was still trying to hide in the bush. The four-legged man, who repeatedly ignored the demands of the border guards to stop, grabbed his hand.
The two detainees turned out to be residents of the Šalčininkai district: a 35-year-old man with a detained dog and another 16-year-old.
Alongside the Volkswagen Passat, 4 packs of 2020 Fest, Winston and Kent cigarette packs were found. Smokers are marked with Belarusian excise signs.
SBGS officers, who continued their search, stopped the Volvo V70, which was driving from the Būdai Forest, approximately one kilometer from the place of detention. It was driven by a 22-year-old resident of the Šalčininkai district.

The Varėna border guards initiated administrative procedures regarding the transportation of goods subject to special taxes in violation of the established procedure. The adults’ freeze received notifications of appearance to appear in court in their case, and the minor was handed over to specialists from the Children’s Rights Protection Service.
