The pre-tax wage gap between these regions stood at € 295.8 in the first quarter and widened by € 27 during the quarter.
Wages in the national economy decreased during the quarter in seven counties, from 0.1 percent. Tauragė up 2.4 percent. In Klaipėda, in three counties, there has been a slight increase, 0.2 percent. Utena up to 0.5 percent. Vilnius and Telšiai.
Employees of companies, institutions and organizations in Vilnius County received the highest salary, reaching 1683 euros. Tauragė County employees earned the minimum: 1,224 euros.
Average monthly income after taxes decreased during the quarter in six counties (0.8 to 1.8 percent) and increased slightly in the remaining counties (0.2 to 0.8 percent).
According to the Department of Statistics, changes in wages and salaries in the first quarter were influenced by an increase in the basic salary of state politicians, judges, civil servants, officials and budget institutions and an increase in the monthly minimum wage, changes in the procedure for calculating non-taxable income, seasonal fluctuations and days worked and other reasons.
The average monthly salary per year (in the first quarter of 2021, compared to the first quarter of 2020) increased in all counties, the majority, by 12.6 percent. – In Taurage County. In other counties, average monthly gross income grew from 7.8 to 11.8 percent during the year.
During the year, average monthly gross income grew faster in the Western and Central Lithuania region (10.6 percent), in the capital region increased by 9.1 percent.
The average monthly salary after taxes grew during the year in all counties, from 8.2 to 12.4 percent.
The average number of employees increased during the quarter in seven counties: from 0.1 in Tauragė and Telšiai to 1.6 percent. Vilnius. In Alytus and Panevėžys counties, the average number of employees decreased by 0.1 and 0.5 percent, respectively, in Utena County, and was almost unchanged. During the average period, the number of employees decreased in all counties from 0.2 (Marijampolė and Vilnius) to 3 percent. (Tauragė), in Kaunas county, hardly changed.
In the capital region, the average number of employees increased by 1.6 percent during the quarter, in the Central and Western Lithuania region it increased by 0.9 percent. During the year, the average number of employees decreased: in the capital region – 0.2, in the Central and Western Lithuania region – 0.9 percent.
During the quarter, the average number of employees increased in 37 municipalities (from 0.1% in the Zarasai district) to 6.8%. (Neringa). In the remaining municipalities it decreased from 0.1 (Rokiškis and Palanga district) to 4.2 percent. (Pagėgiai).
During the year, the average number of employees increased in 18 municipalities from 0.1 (Marijampolė) to 7.8 percent. (Alytus District). In the remaining municipalities, the average number of employees decreased from 0.2 to 7.2 percent.
