R. Giedraitis has already established himself in the Euroleague as one of the most effective snipers.
After a great personal season at the ALBA club in Berlin, the 28-year-old moved to the Baskonia club, with which he signed a three-year contract, and began to play hard during the first season in Spain.
He adds 13 points for the Vitorija team that won 5 Euroleague matches out of 10, the majority in the team, and throws three points. accuracy.
After a successful start to the season in the Euroleague, Eurohoops.net spoke to R. Giedraitis.
– Rokai, how do you feel about starting this Euroleague season?
– This season is very difficult for us so far. We play good and bad games, but in general I think we are improving. We try to understand the system of what our coaches want from us, but we are a young team, we need time to improve. We are on our way.
– How do you change when you change teams in the summer and move to Spain?
– I was just going to play basketball. I wouldn’t think of changes or anything else. I tried to do my job the way the coaches wanted. I don’t want to think about the change, if I played bad or something. No, I came here because the coach wanted me to. And I try to give it my all in the square. That’s it.
– Why did you decide to sign a contract with Baskonia?
– They have been watching me for a long time. The first reason, of course, is Spain and the ACB Championship. I wanted to try playing ACB. Baskonia were a very good team last season, so for me it is a step forward.

– Do you have any suggestions you have considered from other Euroleague teams? Was Panathinaikos reported to be interested in you?
– Yes, but it was just interest. Baskonia loved me very much, I said yes and that’s it. I had a couple more suggestions …
But there was only interest from Panathinaika, not an offer.
– What are your goals for Baskonia during these three years?
– I want to win something. Every time I play basketball, I want to win. It doesn’t even matter if it’s another sport, even playing cards I want to win. The same goes for basketball. I came here because I want to win. I hope we have a chance. I’ve seen my teammates improve and I think we have a chance. Time will tell.
– Do you have a team goal for this season?
– No, we don’t talk too much about the team’s goals. We are going to train, we are a young team that still needs to understand the coach’s systems. We don’t think of goals. But, yes, we are here because we want to win. And step by day, game after game.
– What would you like to improve this season?
– Throw after dribbling.

Are you in the best year of your career or do you see yourself in the NBA in the future?
– Of course I want to play in the NBA. I want to try to get there. I said a couple of years ago that it might be suitable for some NBA teams. But basketball requires hard work and some luck. I think time will tell. I have a lot of work to do now, so I don’t think about the NBA. Whereas all the kids who play basketball want to challenge themselves in the NBA.
– Was there an NBA team that showed interest in you? Heard reports that a couple of teams were considering giving him a two-option deal.
– I do not know. When I got these two options contract offers, I thought it was amazing because they were from NBA teams. But when I was 26, I thought it would be better to have more basketball experience in Europe.
