More importantly, cottage cheese is not only delicious and rich, but also provides the body with the necessary substances.

Produces himself, but also trusts teachers

According to Ernesta Dapkienė, director of the Department of Communication and Image of Maxima, for Lithuanians, cottage cheese is like one of the traditional dishes, which is often served for breakfast or lunch. While this dish is sometimes associated with a children’s menu, it’s no wonder that cottage cheese is also enjoyed by adults.

“Curd is associated with childhood for some of our parents or even grandparents and they really pursue deep traditions. It is true that if before Lithuanians only enjoyed ordinary cottage cheese boiled or fried, today they have many different flavors and are used with a variety of additives, both sweet and salty, ”says E. Dapkienė.

According to the sales network representative, this idea is illustrated by the buyers’ choice. Some customers still produce the curd themselves. At that time, the rest of the buyers choose with pleasure the fresh products already prepared. Others add frozen products to their shopping cart.

Not only delicious but also healthy

At the time, Brigita Baratinskaitė, a food production expert from the aforementioned retail chain, notes that curds are very popular with Lithuanians not only for their classic taste, but also for their nutritional value.

“The main ingredient in curd is that it is beneficial for the human body due to the proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals it contains. Curd is especially rich in calcium and phosphorus; the latter substances are especially important for the development and maintenance of strong bones. At the same time, it is a great protein alternative for those who do not like meat and refuse to eat it, “says B. Baratinskaitė in a press release.

A food production expert warns that it is worth choosing a high-fat or semi-high-fat cottage cheese, because fat is an important source of calories, and at the same time improves the absorption of some vitamins, contributes to brain development . and nervous system.

“Often times, curd is even suitable for those who are lactose intolerant. It is a completely useful and healthy dairy product, on the basis of which cottage cheese can delight not only the palate, but also the whole body. It remains to choose which cottage cheese you want to enjoy today, ”says B. Baratinskaitė.

Try a variety of flavors

The food expert shares some ideas for curd recipes that will delight both the little ones and their parents.

An unforgettable classic: boiled cottage cheese

This plate will need: 350 g of curd; 1 egg; 8 tablespoons of flour; 1 teaspoon of sugar (or to taste); 1 pinch of salt.

“First we rub the curd in a bowl, then we beat the egg, add sugar, salt and mix everything. Later we add flour, we mix everything well again and remember. The dough shouldn’t stick to your hands, and if it does stick, add a little more flour. True, the flour cannot be multiplied, otherwise the cottage cheese will be hard.

Form the dough into balls, flatten them a little and add them to the boiling water. Boil for about 7 minutes until the balls rise to the surface. We serve with sour cream and salt, whoever likes cheese and sweet, with sour cream and jam ”, says B. Baratinskaitė.

Delicious cottage cheese with apples

This plate will need: 800 g of curd; 2 glass flour; 4 apples (small); 2 eggs; 6 tablespoons of sugar 4 tablespoons of kefir; 1 teaspoon of soda.

“We peel the apples, we remove the seeds and we grate them. Next, we put the curd, grated apples, flour, sugar, kefir garden in a bowl, put the eggs and love the dough well. From the resulting curd mass we form thick pancakes and place them in a pan heated with oil.

Bake until cottage cheese is golden brown. We serve hot with sour cream or yogurt, to everyone’s taste ”, advises the Maxima food expert.

Special cottage cheese

This plate will need: 200 g of curd (preferably leaner); 1 egg; 1 handful of spinach (nettle leaves are also suitable); 5 tablespoons of wheat flour; 0.5 teaspoon baking powder; 1 pinch of ground nutmeg (may or may not be added); Salt and pepper to taste.

“Wash the spinach, dry it well and chop it finely. Clean the curd with a fork with egg, spices, yeast and flour. The resulting dough should be quite sticky but not runny so that it forms easily with wet hands. Add the chopped spinach to the curd mass and mix well.

Shape the cottage cheese with wet hands to make it a little flatter. Fry over medium heat in hot oil on both sides until well browned. It is advisable to season these green huts with sour cream or Greek yogurt. Delicious! ”- wishes B. Baratinskaitė.
