Sriwijaya Air transported 62 people from the country’s capital Jakarta to Pontianak in western Borneo. It disappeared from radar 4 minutes after the trip began.

On Sunday, it is believed that a signal was received from the plane’s black box.

10 ship and military divers were dispatched to the disaster site.

“We captured two signals in two places, they could be black boxes,” said Bagus Puruhito, head of Indonesia’s search and rescue agency.

Investigators found the wreckage of the plane: the wheel and parts of the fuselage.

Jakarta police spokesman Yusri Yunus said body parts were also found.

The search and rescue operation did not take place overnight, but rather resumed early Sunday morning. It also involves four planes.

The Boeing 737, not the Boeing 737 Max, is gone. After two air accidents, the flights of this latest model have not taken place since 2019. March to 2020 December.
