Regitra’s general director resigns, saying that the minister’s position is demotivating

“During yesterday’s meeting with the minister, we discussed the situation after the introduction of the new system, but then I heard the minister’s statements on television, with which I do not agree. The entire project has been repeated many times – the time allotted for project implementation is too short. Meanwhile, the Minister’s comments about the company’s alleged unwillingness to achieve the project’s objectives appeared in the public sphere.

This position greatly demotivates the entire team of company employees and damages the reputation of the company. This undermines the good changes our company has made, sometimes surpassing the experience in other European countries. I want to emphasize that the project started on time and is developing further, and the main objective has been achieved: bringing the shade to the surface ”, says Dalius Prevelis, General Manager of Regitra.

Given this and mistrust, the owner of the company has already asked the Ministry of the Interior to terminate the employment contract.

“I would like to sincerely thank all the colleagues who really did not count their efforts and hours of work during a very difficult period, implementing a great change in the field of vehicle registration.

I am proud of the company team and of having been able to work with them. Throughout the period, we have implemented a series of successful projects related to the issuance of driving licenses, tests and vehicle registration, ”says D. Prevelis.

Since the beginning of last month, a new vehicle owner accounting system has been put in place to curb the “shadow” in the auto trading market. This means that from now on all vehicles already in the country must have a sole proprietorship declaration code (SDK).

According to the ministry, this is one of the factors that determined the queues in the “Registry”.

As BNS later reported to Regitra, to manage customer flows, the customer service procedure was changed as of May 28: more people who need vehicle registration services are served without prior registration.

Additionally, the company noted that some people go to the unit even though the services can be obtained online. For example, the SDK drivers can be downloaded for free from the electronics.

According to Regitra, in most cities, clients who arrive without prior registration are served until the end of the working day, except in Vilnius, where employment is highest.

According to the Home Office, the SDK will be subject to a tolerance period until September if a person does not fulfill their obligations on time. The control authorities will not seek to penalize but to provide the necessary information.
