The fall championship of NBA 2K20 sponsors “BasketNews.lt”, which aroused great interest, is coming to an end, so without waiting for anything, we started the registration for the NBA 2K21 winter championship, to which they have already registered more than 100 participants. Members of the BasketNews.lt team also joined the tournament.
At the NBA 2K21 BasketNews.lt Patrons Winter Championship, we presented not only prizes much more valuable than in previous tournaments, but also a revamped system and many other innovations.
We would also like to be happy that the video game store GAMEROOM.LT has joined the ranks of the sponsors of the winter championship, having established the main prizes of this tournament.
Who can participate?

The tournament is open to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players who have purchased the opportunity to compete online.
There will be no PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X console tournaments in the Winter Championship yet, but we promise to start hosting tournaments for the next generation of consoles in the future. Also, even in this tournament, both players will be able to play matches with these consoles.

How will everything go?
Players on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles will participate in separate tournaments and compete for separate prizes.
The winter championship will last for three months and will take place practically until the final stage. The finalists will compete live on one of Lithuania’s largest esports venues “GG GAMING LOUNGE VILNIUS” due to the name of the winner of their console tournament.
First stage (main group stage)
The first stage (main group stage) will last for five weeks (2020-12-01 – 2021-01-05).
All participants will be divided into groups of 8-9 * players and will have to play each other twice, so in the first stage a player will have to play 14-16 matches, half of which with the same participant.
It will be possible to play the match whenever you want, that is, there will be no obligation to play a certain number of matches each week, and the number of doubles per week will not be limited. Without the ability to play for a certain period of time, more games will be available sooner or later. The most important thing is to play with all the opponents at the end of the stage.
Players in each group will be grouped by lottery in the order that they will choose the desired 2020-2021 team. NBA and will compete with him throughout the first round. From the second and third stages, this process will be repeated again.
At the end of the first round, the four best teams in the group will advance to Division A, where they will compete for the main prizes, and the four worst teams will fall to Division B, where they will play for token prizes.
In the last tournament, we received some complaints about the level difference, some were afraid to sign up, so we hope that the divisions will solve this problem or at least reduce it, as well as giving weaker players a chance to perform better.
* How many groups will have (and will have) 9 players will depend on the number of participants. Those who finish in ninth place will finish the tournament after the first round.
Winter Championship Awards (first stage)
We present another innovation: the tournament prizes, which will be awarded after the first stage.
The winners of the following categories will be awarded:
- MVP (the player with the most points in the ranking and the best player +/−);
- The player with the best defense (the player with the fewest points);
- Rookie of the tournament (rookie of the tournament with the most points and best +/−);
- The player who has improved the most (the player who has progressed the most compared to the group stage of the fall championship).
Winners of Winter Championship awards will receive attributes from BasketNews.lt.
Second stage (stages of division groups A and B)
The second stage (division stage of divisions A and B) will last four weeks (2020-01-05 – 2021-02-02).
All participants in the top four in the first round will be divided into Division A groups of 8 players and will have to play each other twice, for a total of 14 matches per player in the second round.
The same awaits the participants with the lowest four places in the group in the first stage, who will enter Division B.
Players in each group will be grouped according to the ranking of the first round in the order in which they will choose the desired team from 2020-2021. NBA and will compete with him throughout the second round. From the third stage, this process will be repeated again.
The top four teams in both divisions will advance to the playoffs * and the top four worst teams will finish the tournament.
* Divisions A and B will be played separately. Players in Division A will fight for the main prizes and those in Division B for the symbolic prizes.
Third stage (divisions A and B playoffs)
The third stage (playoffs for divisions A and B) will last four weeks (2020-02-02 – 2020-03-02).
All participants in the top four in the second round will be divided into pairs * according to the second round ranking in the playoffs and will play a series of up to two wins.
The winners of the series will move on and the losers will finish their show in the tournament.
The four finalists from Division A from both tournaments will take place live at the GG GAMING LOUNGE esports arena.
* Repetitions of divisions A and B, as already mentioned, will be carried out separately.
GAMEROOM training room
We also present an innovation: the GAMEROOM training room, a chat in the Messenger application, to which all tournament participants can be added and where it will be possible to play and train with players who are not necessarily in their group. Holders of the PS5 console will also be able to play.
What will the prizes be?
The winter championship prizes were established by the main sponsor of the tournament – the computer game store GAMEROOM.LT.

What will be the rules of the game?
The first stage will be played (selective) All-star mode. Starting from the second round, Division A players will continue to play All-star mode and Division B will start to play Pro level *.

The tournament will be available to play with all teams from 2020-2021. NBA season.
