As the Šiauliai District Court reported on Thursday, in February the man was asked to protect a French Bulldog, her three puppies and a Bengal cat. The court estimated that this property is worth nearly 3,000. euros. The convicted person voluntarily undertook to compensate for this damage within one year.

The defendant claimed to have drunk the money received by the animals.

He said he was drunk when he was informed by phone about the people who had come to his house. There, according to the man, were the police and the people he understood were the guardians of the animals.

He sold four dogs to animal rescuers for 250 euros and a cat for 20 euros and signed a contract. To whom the man sold the animals he said he did not remember.

The court considered his sincere remorse as extenuating circumstance and aggravated intoxication during the crime.

Since the criminal case ended with a criminal court order and the person pleaded guilty, the sentence was reduced by a third: for wasting someone else’s property, you would have to work 30 hours a month without paying for the public interest.

The defendant, if he does not agree with the sentence imposed by the court or its amount, under other conditions, has the right to submit an application to the Raseiniai Chamber of the Šiauliai District Court to hold a court hearing within 14 days after receipt of the document.

An effective criminal court order is not subject to appeal.
