Rainbow patterns: in Kaunas, not only the colors on the bench, but also the bench itself remained

The rainbow-colored bench that appeared in Vilnius Town Hall Square in May quickly blurred. In Kaunas, a colorfully decorated bench disappeared.

Today, Gintaras Furmanavičius from Kaunas shared pictures of one of Kaunas’ parks on his Facebook wall.

“It just came to our knowledge then. Me (heart) Kaunas!” They commented on two photos placed side by side.

On one of the trails there is a bench painted in the colors of the rainbow. In the other, it is obvious that the same place was photographed. The only difference – the bank – does not smell.

G. Furmanavičius clarified to the portal kauno.diena.lt that the Vytautas park is in the photos. The former politician and minister said the photos were sent to him by a friend. I was curious to know who had built a bench or painted it that way.

Many commenters supported the change, apparently in the second photo, which is without LGBT characters, even brighter.

Mldc, Kaunas !!! Without littering !!!! Yes, continue! ”- one of the Internet users openly demonstrated his hostility towards LGBT people and their symbols.

“No bank, no problem,” another commenter said in more detail, but there were a number of sharp and disrespectful comments openly praising a possible robbery.

Other commentators recalled that those banks appeared in Kaunas long before Vilnius. “It is located at the entrance to the central market of Kaunas Darling two, ”wrote the commenter. The aforementioned market decorations have been there for several years and are not associated with LGBT as there are slightly different colors than the LGBT flag.

The bank appeared in Vilnius on May 17, in commemoration of the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. It was built here by Freedom Group. According to the authors of the idea, it is a symbolic gift for residents and guests of the city.

We remind you that theft, like the destruction of other people’s property, incites hatred.
