The virus is invincible.

Klaipėda students will finish this school year with distance education, and Klaipėda kindergarten children and small residents who attend kindergarten groups will be in educational institutions as soon as Monday. Kindergartens will resume work throughout Lithuania.

“This is a matter of principle, but I ask all parents to consider this opportunity responsibly. And precisely because it is an opportunity, not an obligation. Especially when children have chronic illnesses or live in the same areas as people in risk”. not taking children to kindergarten would be a greater value than not using it, “said Klaipeda Mayor Vytautas Grubliauskas.

The port city chief also stressed that the coronavirus wave is under control, but has not yet been defeated.

No fees are charged during the quarantine period if the child does not visit the institution. Also, until the end of quarantine, parents who stay home with their children can still continue their certificates of incapacity to work.

How much will return is unknown

Laima Prižgintienė, director of the Klaipėda Municipality Department of Education, explained that with the decrease in quarantine conditions, 20 children are allowed per kindergarten group and 15 kindergarten groups.

Currently, there is a standard that allows the education of no more than 10 children in a group.

According to the head of the education department, it has not yet been determined how many children will return to the city’s kindergartens. Surveys show that the situation is different in each institution: somewhere since May 18. He intends to return to kindergartens 80 percent. children, in some cases only 20%.

If there are very few children, groups may join.

Children who return to kindergartens after quarantine only eat in groups and not in dining rooms.

In cases where less than 50 children attend kindergarten, parents will have to take care of the children’s food themselves, put it in food boxes and it will be possible to heat the dishes. If there are more children, food service will be provided as usual.

It will not accept sick children.

It is emphasized that all necessary security requirements will be met after the resumption of work.

According to L. Pržgintienė, it is forbidden to take children to groups of kindergartens and kindergartens who cough, cough or have a fever. Temperature will be measured for each child only upon entering the facility. Children with a body temperature of 37.3 degrees will not be accepted and will have to travel home.

Small Klaipėda residents returning to institutions will not have to wear masks within and on the territory of the institution. Institutional staff will wear masks only when meeting with children, measure the temperature, and will not need facial protection during the educational process.

All facility workers who have worked with children during quarantine are invited to be tested for COVID-19.

Older workers will also have to return to work starting next week. Previously, kindergarten workers over the age of 60 could choose not to work.

Although the director of the Department of Education said she believed the institutions would face this challenge, she also asked that children not be taken to daycare if possible.

“Quarantine is not revoked until May 31. It is safer for children to be at home,” summarized L. Prižgintienė.

Not everyone will work

It is true that not all institutions will open their doors from Monday. Kindergartens “Aitvar “lis” and “Eglutė” will not be able to work until June 1 due to the repairs started.

“Parents of children attending these institutions may, in exceptional cases, apply to heads of institutions. A place will be sought in other educational institutions for children,” said L. Prižgintienė.

All of the city’s kindergartens are said to be open this summer. Some will close the door for half or a month for pre-scheduled repairs, but the children’s parents will be notified.
