R. Karbauskis: those who speak out against homosexuals are doing very wrong

In a movie released this week, Pope Francis expressed his support for a same-sex couple. R. Karbauskis also reacted to this.

“It just came to our knowledge then. We are talking about civil and patrimonial relations. I do not know if the Association Law is necessary to establish property relations in the Civil Code,” said the LVŽS leader on Thursday during the electoral debate with the President of the Freedom Party.

It is true that he agreed that legislative changes are needed.

“If there is no law that allows people to inherit property or something while living together, it is necessary to do so. But when it comes to the need to build some kind of foundation to build families, someone would try to adopt children. <...>“This is unacceptable in Lithuania and we will not do it,” emphasized the politician.

He said that homosexuals must be full members of our society.

They are essentially the same citizens, they have the same rights.

“If someone speaks or acts against these people somewhere, they are doing something very bad, because they are basically the same citizens, they have the same rights,” said the politician.

Although the Church, according to R. Karbauskis, has not changed the dogmas about same-sex families: “People of one sex cannot form families, in our opinion they cannot adopt children either.”

The LVŽS, which joined Seimas in 2016, had the following objective in its program: “We will provide opportunities to people of different genders who lead a joint farm to solve problems without establishing family legal relationships, therefore, we will enshrine the legal norms that regulate the association between men and women in the books of the Civil Code “.

His government did not stay on the program.

In 2017, the “peasants”, with Povilas Urbšis, a member of the Mixed Group of Seimas members, registered modifications to the Inheritance Tax Law and the Civil Code, which proposed to legalize coexistence agreements. They could be formed not only by couples but also, for example, by relatives living together.

Procedures to approve the amendment were unsuccessful.

Saulius Skvernelis, who participates in the Seimas elections, does not raise the objective of legalizing same-sex couples, nor does he support the first number of the party list. Their belief is to guarantee the rights of people of the same sex. possible otherwise.
